Napster started the Internet Music revolution, and lives on today as a legitimate Music Download Service. Recently they created a browser based version of the service that allows you to stream music from their catalog for free. It's low quality but it's a great way to see if you like a song. The download version of the Napster program allows you to purchase songs or to subscribe to Napster and listen to as much music as you want each month without ever really owning the music.
Napster stands out from other music services like iTunes in the fact that they have a subscription plan to "rent your music". They also try to do a good job at recommending music you may like. Napster has tons of preprogrammed playlists and radio stations.
